In May of 2015, I went to Cuba as an artist sponsored by the Arts and Cultural Bridge Foundation upon the invitation of Suzanne Thompson. I had the great privilege of performing “Unraveled (in Rojo, Blanco y Azul)” at the gallery of acclaimed Cuban artist Nelson Dominguez in La Habana Viejo. Susana De Armas participated as a guest artist and the filmmaker Claudia Rojas created a short film documenting and inspired by the performance.
And while cruising around Havana with Suzanne, I donned the Victus Versus cloth and struck a few poses.
I am incredibly humbled by the warm reception I received. And I am also extremely grateful to the Arts and Cultural Bridge Foundation for this opportunity and privilege to be a harbinger of cultural exchange as diplomatic relations between Cuba and the United States are re-established.
